Morning everyone & welcome to another challenge at An Oldie But A Goodie. This time the challenge has been set by Laurie and it's;

Red & Green Must Not Be Seen

So we're looking for a Christmas Card minus these colours. The lovely prize this time is...

Please remember to use a stamp which is older than 6 months & no digi images please.

For my card, I went with blue & silver as my main colours. The image is another lovely Penny Black, papers are Craft Creations and colouring as always done by Promarkers and for that added Christmas sparkle I've used Stickles, gems & a sparkly ribbon.

Nativity

I haven't used this stamp before, so I guess it counts as new - despite the 2009 date on it! I've used it for a number of challenges this week, all of which I love!

Firstly there is the Winter Wonderland challenge - one I was going to miss this time as I'm all but thru making Christmas cards this year, but then I read the theme - NATIVITY - kinda what it's all about, so I thought I'd do it!

Then there was the lovely sketch at Sketch n Stash - how could I not do that, so with my new/old stamp I set to work!

Finally, ABC Christmas is X for Xerox - ie copy an old challenge - so I went with e for embossing from the beginning of the year. (3 different folders used!) I took my inspiration from Jayne's card in that challange, her card was predominately white too with the main image sitting over an embossed panel, use of ribbon & corner detail. I have included a picture of Jaynes lovely card below,

& Papertake - Christmas cracker
Party Time Tuesday - Snow
Ribbon Girl - Christmas
Bunny Zoe Crafts - Anything Christmas + pearls
Simon Says Stamp - Show some stars - on the image & embossed corner
PBSC - Christmas + Red + Embossing - ok so there's a lot more embossing than red, but they are both there! Jx

Happy 80th

Another special birthday card - that's 3 this week! This one is for my uncle who has a big birthday in Dec. His card is made using lovely reversible Fancy Pants paper called Papa and a classic car stamp from the Papermania collection, Nostalgia.

This will be my 3rd & final entry into this weeks Crafty Emma's Store challenge.

I'm also entering Here Come The Boys - For Men in Your Life, Jx

Line Dancing

My Mam asked me to make this card for one of her friends at line dancing who is celebrating a special birthday, I didn't have a suitable image, till I found this boot at Tanda Stamps. Next day delivery from them and a great stamp meant making the card was very straight forward. (Thanks Tanda.)

So, after a few weeks away, I went back to the Willow Sketchie Designs challenge & used their great sketch to come up with this card. As well as the sketch, we had to use 2 ribbons and 1 button.

The papers used are My Mind's Eye - Six by Six. The flower made using a Marianne die & the ribbons & button from my cluttered desk!

I've also just checked & can enter the Crafty Emma's Store Challenge more than once, so here's another special birthday entry for that too, Jx

Words With Friends

There are so many on-line games out there, but one that has really got a hold in our house at the moment is words with friends - an on-line scrabble game you play through facebook.

Now Craig is really into this game at the moment, and next month he turns 50 so I thought this would be a perfect theme for his card!

The scrabble tiles were a download from, Stampingallday Card Making Supplies and the board backing I found on-line.

& it just so happens, Crafty Emma's Store challenge this week is...special birthday! Jx

Angel Candles

As it was very rainy & windy here today, I spent the morning decorating candles for a friend. Haven't made any candles this year, so it was a nice change from cards, & once I got going, I rattled off a half dozen in no time!

The images are both LOTV from this years Christmas collection, coloured in a variety of shades using Promarkers. The candles were then gift wrapped & a snowflake added to the neck.

LOTV - Anything Goes Jx

Zooming Along!

Oh I loved making this card, giggled to myself as I put it together, I know it's not your normal Christmas card, but it will mean a lot to my son. He's 17, and just started learning to drive. His birthday was at the end of October, and now Christmas is fast approaching and he hasn't a clue what he wants.

Ting...light bulb moment...I thought of pre-paid driving lessons!

With this in mind I've made this Christmas wallet. Simple design I know, but I think it will make sense to him, as it brings back memories of his second driving lesson with me in the back garden, and the car heading straight for the trees! Sorry Alan, but it was really funny, (not at the time), but when I think about it, I have a chuckle, you see our garden is surrounded by trees, so how he didn't see them ahead will always be one of life's great mysteries!!!

Anyway onto the card, its lovely non-christmas image, but perfect for this Christmas gift is by LOTV. Colouring by Promarkers & paper by Saint Nick.

Challenges;
LOTV - A Christmas Card for Someone Special - My son
Papertake -When is a card not a card...When it's a Gift Wallet. Jx

Christmas Tree

Well it's been a damp sort of a day here, quite mild & no actual rain, but there wasn't much of a wind so I think my washing has come in pretty much as wet as it was when it was hung out this morning!

Once the washing was done, I set about this card using a Forever Friends image and old Dovecraft paper from a few years back. The stars are embossed then distress inked to make them stand out.

Challenges;
Sketch Saturday - Their Sketch
I Love Promarkers - Christmas Trees

Tokens Of Love

I'm stuck in a WoW stage again! Not a bad thing this week as it ties in with a lot of challenges, but it kinda means all those lovely Christmas papers I bought this year are just hanging around!

Kindle Surprise!

Ok, so most of you konw the advert as a Kinder surprise, where there's a little toy in with the chocolate egg, but this time, it was lovely packaging around my new kindle...hence the name Kindle Surprise!!!

So, using said wrapping, I made the recycled card below. The image in Penny Black & the punched border done using an MS punch.

Challenges;
Crafty Cardmakers - Recycle
Crafty Creations - Recycle
Allsorts - Black + White + one other colour - I chose brown.

Jx

PS The Kindle is brilliant too & for those of you who like a good read, have you tried Linwood Barclay's books?
- Definitely my favourite author at the moment.

Royal Mail

Well another couple of weeks has gone whizzing past, and before we know it Christmas will have been and gone!  For those of you like me who have a few, (good few) Christmas cards left to make, the current Oldie But Goodie Challenge will help you on your way. The theme this time is;

Let It Snow.

Up for grabs this time is "a lovely box of Christmas crafting goodies", and all you have to do, to be in with a chance of winning is make a card following the theme with a stamp that is over 6 months old. Remember though, no digi's allowed.

So using my Royal Mail Christmas stamp of a few years, I set to work on this card.

The image is Penny Black, coloured with Promarkers, & the embossing in done using Cuttlebug folders. Sentiments are LOTV & the snowflake is cut using a Dynamics Die.

Finally, the snowflake was inked with TH Pumice distress ink, the snow, flocked & card candi added to complete the project.

Now, why not pop over to the main An Oldie But A Goodie blog page, to see the great cards produced by the rest of the DT.

Challenges;
Oldie But Goodie - Let It Snow
Sketch n Stash - Their Sketch
PB&More - All Creatures Great & Small

Autumnal Pink Punkette

I'm more a rubber stamp person than a digi, but if ever there was a range of stamps to tempt me over to the other side, it has to be Kirsta Smith's, Saturated Canary range.

I so love these Sassy stamps, and now that I have really good non-bleed card, (what a difference that makes), I can see far more digi purchases just a few clicks away!

So, my card, it uses the Pink Punkette image and is coloured with Promarkers. The papers are Six by Six by My Mind's Eye and the flower once again is cut using my new Marianne Die.

Challenges;
Saturated Canary - Autumn Colours
Sketch Saturday - Their Sketch
Crafty Catz - Use A Digi

Melody

Todays card is for the I Love Promarkers Challenge & uses Papermania Capsule Collection papers and my first ever hand made flower using a Marianne Creatable die!

Hope you're all having a good Sunday, I'm having a lazy one. Did some washing & ironing this morning, then been messing about on here and with my card stuff the rest of the day.

I'm also entering it into The Secret Crafter Challenge - Spots & Stripes. Now I know the stripes are obvious, but if you look hard, there are tiny white spits on the lemon backing paper too! Jx

Fluffles Returns

Fluffles was the first stamp range I REALLY fell in love with, obviously loads more have now followed, but as he was my first favourite, I still hold him dear!

Sorry folks, it's another wow card! Last year I hated them and avoided those challenges like the plague... this year, I'm doing wow without even being asked!

Embossing this time using a Craft Concepts Christmas folder. Dynamics die-cut snowflakes, gems & a ribbon.

Challenges;
ABC Christmas Challenge - Winter Sports - Snowboarding
CHCC - What ever lights your candle - What you like.

Christmas Kraft

After a few days off card making, I'm hoping for a challenge catch up this weekend! I have quite a few birthday cards to make for family this month, so I'm going to have to get a move on!

My second card of the day is a simple PB on Kraft. The stamp is Xmouse Ornament - one I used a lot a couple of years ago, & the sentiment LOTV. The edges are given a TH distress & the snowflakes glittered & a little bling added.

Challenges;
Passion For Promarkers - Kraft + 1 - I chose blue.
Winter Wonderland - A Christmas Mouse Jx

Old St Nick

I'm so pleased I bought this stamp a couple of weeks ago when in Elgin. I so love him and and having lots of fun using him on my cards. My only problem is, I can't get past a simple red & white colour combo and onto pairing him with papers!

So my card involved lots of embossing, die cuts & Stickles! (Although the flash has tended to make all the sparkly bits look a bit grubby & yellow - not quite the plan, but in day light the sparkles, SPARKLE!)

Challenges;

Sugar Bowl - Their sketch
Wags n Whiskers - Christmas Themed
CHNCC - Bright & Sparkly
Top Tip Tuesday - Anything Christmas
Jx

Sam, the fern is off a Marianne Creatable Die Set, with a circle of stars and the fern.

Couples Cruise

I got this stamp ages ago, love the animals on it, but shy-ed away from colouring it until I went to a Promarker class, & the lovely Debbi gave me a few pointers into colour choices and blending - (thanks again Debbi.) With this knowledge, I then coloured my High Hopes image and made the following card;

The papers used are by First Edition and are called Up, Up & Away, the stamp is High Hopes, Couples Cruise & the colouring done with promarkers.

Challenges;
Passion For Promarkers - Animals you'd see in the zoo - would be a big zoo to have all these...Chester perhaps?

Ho Ho Ho

After my shopping spree of yesterday, I didn't quite manage to finish a card, however as I'm up bright and early today, I've got it finished before everyone gets up.

Well it didn't take me long to ink up one of my new stamps did it! It's Old St Nick by Sugar Nellie. My card is coloured with promarkers and the LOTV date is mounted on a distress inked die cut snowflake. And all Santa's fluffy bits are all covered in flock - well the bits you see that is!

Challenges;
Sugar Bowl - CAS & Sketch - love it as always.
Winter Wonderland - CAS Jx

Holiday Fun

Craig is off work on holiday this week - he suggested we take a run through to Elgin as it was a lovely day...

...you'd think he'd know by now that taking me up to the home of Sugar Nellie stamps was asking for trouble AND...we even found a few new craft shops on the way! Don't know if I'll manage to make a card tonight, too tired from shopping! Brilliant day out though. Jx

Flower Power

This is a very exciting post for me, as it's my first as part of a design team! I'm so pleased the lovely ladies over at Oldie But A Goodie asked me to join their merry little band - didn't take long to accept the invitation I can tell you!

Thank you so much you guys, for inviting me into your team. I'm really looking forward to working with you all in the coming weeks & getting to know you all better.

Anyway, the current challenge was set by Lisa, it's;
Buttons & Bows
and it's sponsored by Stampelkallan.

As luck would have it, I actually have some Stampelkallan stamps, so decided to use one on my card this time. All the stamps are available from the Stampelkallan site - this one was coded "Design Annike." I've coloured it with Promarkers & combined it with old Papermania Paper & an LOTV stamp.

To add a bit of dimension to my card, I double stamped the flower and raised the flower heads on foam pads.

Actually, these flowers really remind me of ones currently flowering in our garden - haven't a clue what they're called, but they do bring a lovely splash of colour. Jx
